Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
If you are conscious of perfect fit and want to use the sherwani more than once, it’s better to get it stitched. Stitching charges start from Rs. 5,500+. You can also consider getting your sherwani on rent. The rate depends on the design and embellishment of the sherwani and starts from Rs. 3,000-Rs. 12,000. Rentals are economical if you are planning to wear the sherwani just once.

If you are getting sherwani stitched alone (not three pieces suit) you’ll require anywhere between 3.0-4.0 metre length on a 44 inch width. To make three pieces suit, you’ll require a total of 4.0-4.5 metre fabric depending on the body structure of groom. Extra fabric may also be required in case of heavy embroidery. Exact requirement can be judged post professional measurement of groom.
The process involves adding 1.5-2.0 inches to the sleeves and armholes of sherwani/jacket so that there is some ease while performing rituals. It’s an adjustment to avoid dragging of the fabric.
This is subjective and depends on personal preference. However, monochromatic sherwani looks elegant and adds height to groom’s personality. This will give you vertical look.
Ideally, we suggest picking up one shade from the border/dupatta of the bride’s lehenga rather than matching it with sherwani. It’s okay if safa and sherwani match but we suggest avoiding the same for the dupatta.
Ideally, it’s advisable to book your designer at least 6-8 weeks before the wedding. However, a simple sherwani suit can be ready within 7-10 days.

It’s advisable to get embroidered sherwani dry cleaned from a specialist only. It’s a myth that embroidered sherwanis can’t be cleaned, Zardozi work done using pure Zari (gold) thread can be cleaned with proper techniques and expertise. Store your sherwani in a dry and breath-able cloth cover (not in plastic), adding a sachet of silica gel helps maintain the shape and lustre of embroidery.
