Jawahar Lal Nehru, stepped in to provide aid to the affected population. He allotted 80 Sq. Yds Plots with a loan of Rs.1000 to every family, so that they could rebuild their homes.

The allotments were made in Blocks J, K, L, M, N and O. 94 Plots in Block J were allotted to the Rajasthani people, while the remaining Blocks were allotted to the Punjabi/Multani/Sindhi/Jhangi population. At the time, this population comprised the majority of the residents.
